Facebook’s Open Cellular is a new open-source wireless access platform for remote areas. Nuran has worked closely with Facebook on the design of the platform for the past year.

As an invited speaker at the Telecom Infra Project (“TIP”) session hosted by Facebook during MWC on March 1st at 3:30pm at the XFN Event Space, Maxime Dumas, Head of Strategy and Business Development at NuRAN Wireless Inc. will provide updates on the status of the Connect-1 SDR development as well as the timing of the availability of the platform.

NuRAN has also been retained by Facebook for the newer OpenCellular platform made specifically for LTE. Following yesterday’s announcement that Cavium will be designing the digital portion of the platform, based on their OCTEON Fusion CNF7130 baseband processor , NuRAN will be designing the front-end section of the platform, effectively resulting in a complete, low-cost LTE base station. Details on the front-end design will also be presented by Maxime Dumas during the hosted session.
