Quebec, QC, Canada, February 18, 2016 – NuRAN Wireless Inc. (“NuRAN Wireless” or the “Company”) (CSE: NUR), a leading supplier of mobile and broadband wireless solutions to “connect the next billion”, is delighted to announce the launch of its fourth generation GSM basestation: the GSM LiteCell 1.5.

The  GSM LiteCell 1.5 is characterized by the industry’s:

  • Lowest satellite bandwidth consumption
  • Lowest power consumption
  • Lowest total cost of ownership (TCO)
  • Smallest, lightest and easiest to deploy

The biggest improvement in the carrier grade GSM LiteCell 1.5 is the powerful processor that allows satellite bandwidth optimization. By reducing by almost a factor of 10 the bandwidth requirements without affecting the quality of the users’ experience, this solution enables the mobile network operators to expand their footprint and grow their subscribers base profitably. It can accomplish this by connecting areas with low average revenue per users (ARPU) and populations ranging between 500 and 20 000 people.

“The operators in low density, low income and remote villages used to face two major challenges that made them unable to bring connectivity to these areas in a profitable manner; namely power consumption and the satellite bandwidth. The GSM LiteCell 1.5 is a drastic game changer: it provides a mobile connection in a radius of up to 22 kilometers with less power consumption than a single light bulb as well as reducing the satellite bandwidth to a minimum by using NuRAN’s LiteSat bandwidth optimization features. All the tools needed are now available by Nuran to democratize the access to mobile communications in even the most challenging sites” explained Martin Bédard, co-President of NuRAN Wireless.
